What types of Magic can Tae use? Tae mostly uses Pattern Spheres: Forces (for energies), Life (organic bodies), Matter (inorganic materials), Spirit (honorary Pattern Sphere for metaphysical ephemera). He doesn't use Matter and has yet to learn anything that does deal with that. If Spheres were inherited, then Tae has a nice blend of both his parents with his most dominant Sphere being Life. That he has this wee bit of Time as a Sphere leaves everyone questioning. Oddly, he can only use the Time Sphere during a Full Moon and so far only thinks it is for Divination.
His Affiliation Sphere is Life. That means that this is the Sphere of magic he mostly understands and uses and which resonates with his core calling, that of a Healer.
LIFE * * * (Specialization: Healing)
At rank 3, Tae has good control with this Sphere, which he should as his Affiliation Sphere. It gives him influence over organic beings and the structures of living bodies, idea for the healer he intends to be. Some of the basics of what Tae can do with this Sphere are:
- Sense Life: Sense the state of being (state of healthy, or sickness, or depth of injury) or sense nearby life forms and identify them (if he knows them). Combined with other sphere, he could determine more distant life forms (Correspondence Sphere 2 needed). He could guess the potential danger of a sickness (with Entropy Sphere 1). He could view the past states and future states of a life (with Time Sphere 2). And he could read the stream of Quintessencwe in them (with Prime Sphere 1).
- Alter Simple Life Forms / Healing: Tae theoretically could change the patterns and structures of simpler life forms (give a crab wings for instance) though he is unlikely to ever do such a thing. He could easily heal them or kill them. He could heal himself (if he has enough of his wits about him to do so) or adjust his looks (like in the Craft but not as an illusion).
- Transform Simple Life Forms, Alter Himself, Heal Others: So Tae could turn a tree inside out, but that would be really weird. He could possibly change a simple life form into a completely different simple life form. Tae could (with Prime 2) conjure simple life forms from raw energy. As for himself, he could make alterations (gills, wings, etc), but has yet had need of such things. The ability to heal other people is where most of his studies are, where he devotes himself most.

Tae knows he needs to work on other spheres that will help him more with this one. He has a passing knowledge/capacity, basic understanding and basic use of, A few other Spheres: Forces, Prime, Spirit, and Time.
FORCES * (Specialization: Elements)
Tae understand the Elements and how they manifest in the world. At just a Rank 1, Tae can only really perceive the energies (Earth, Air, Fire, and Water) and can barely manipulate them. Maybe one day, he will have a degree of command over them.
- Perceive Forces: Tae can sense the flow of the elements in the environment. This allows him to tap into seeing the world with different eyes (infrared, ultraviolet, x-ray, etc.). This means he can see, feel, hear, sense the elements and energies around him.
With more training or practice, he will be able to manipulate these elemental energies.

PRIME *
Tae grasps the idea of Prime, that he could tap into or control primordial forces. At just a Rank 1, Tae
can only really perceive the energies (fifth element of Spirit or Quintessence, Odyllic Force) and can barely manipulate them.
This is the study of Quintessence, the primordial or universal energies. Maybe one day, he will have a degree of command over them.
- Etheric Sence / Effuse Personal Quintessence: Tae can sense where Quintessence is stored and is moving. By sensing the strongest currents of Odyllic Force, he align himself so that they flow into his own Pattern, charging his Avatar. Without the first rank of Prime, he cannot store free Quintessence within his own Pattern beyond the amount he receives from his Avatar. In conjunction with the other Spheres, Tae can see Prime energy in various Patterns or recognize specific sorts of Resonance and their strength. He can also determine if an area has a strong Prime wellspring (like a Node) or when a Juncture that creates Prime energy might occur.
With more training or practice, he will be able to manipulate this energy to form or enchant things. This is what his mother has been trying to show him so that one day he could create his own enchanted objects. Tae DOES have a few thins effuse with his personal Resonance: Brighid, his personal sacred teacup, and tea sometimes when he remembers to do so with intention.

SPIRIT *
At just a
Rank 1, Tae can only really perceive the Spirit Entities. He is aware of and understands a little about the Umbra or "spirit world" and the "veil" or Gauntlet that separates the Umbra from the physical world. Maybe one day, he will have a
degree of command over them.
- Spirit Sight / Spirit Sense: "I see dead people" ... and other things.
While at first he did not think this was very useful, the idea of being able to heal areas, heal rent locations, heal spirit beings, heal the spirit in things... that appeals to him, but he has a long way till he can do anything like that.

TIME * (Constrained to work only during the Full Moon)
It is a great Mystery to understand that time is not linear. But it often starts with understanding the connection we have to the linear timeline, understanding the past, present, and future and how these impact us. At Rank 1, Tae has the ability to sense this, sense time's flow.
- Time Sense: At the most obvious, Tae has an awareness of time's flow. He learns to discern subjective time, to keep an accurate track of her own temporal position, to notice anomalies and alterations in time and to track Effects through their temporal “wake,” the disturbance that all things leave in the flow of time. Although it's impractical to always have a concrete sense of Time, an Initiate can often tell when someone's scrying on her through time, and she can develop a powerfully accurate count of time's passage. Combined with the other Spheres, the basics of Time magic let Tae determine whether a particular Pattern has been affected unnaturally by Time and how it has been changed as a result. Furthermore, they give the mage better accuracy in using pre- existing time distortions in conjunction with other magic.
Because of the strange constraints on this Sphere, Tae's control of and understanding of this first Rank use of this Sphere that are so unreliable. His use of this Sphere is more by happenstance through Divination, where he divines with frightening accuracy at Full Moons and gets false or chaotic messages outside the Full Moon. Tae does not trust his abilities with this Sphere and swings between thinking it amazingly useful to too terrifying to touch.
